Who I am
I am a musician and an educator. My instruments are cello, viola, violin, and very sparingly double bass. I received my Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance and Music Education, my Masters of Music in Cello Performance and Music Theory, and my Doctorate of Musical Arts in Cello Performance.
What I do
I teach Suzuki and traditional cello, viola, and violin lessons. My students range from ages 4 to 60+. I currently teach at Ridgefield Suzuki School in Ridgefield, CT and The Hartt School Community Division in West Hartford, CT.
I perform regularly on cello and love to step in on viola and violin when I can. My love for music theory (aka ‘taking music apart to see how it works’) and the fact that I am a multi-instrumentalist enables me to enjoy making specialized arrangements and transcriptions of art music and pop songs. I regularly arrange music for my group classes as well as string quartet and string trio. Some of my arrangements can be found performed and recorded by Golden Scroll Soloists.
Other interests
Crochet! I am also currently trying to teach myself how to knit.
I love to cook and bake, and have a dream (but not the herb garden to support) cooking and baking all the way through Ottolenghi’s books.
I am a proud Taskmaster enthusiast and superfan, and am brainstorming ways to incorporate similar celebrations of everyone’s unique flavor of thought and creativity into my teaching — particularly in group classes.
